Thanks to all who took the time to enter and for leaving such great comments! More contests to come this month!
Anyway, www.themoderationnation.com is full of all kinda stuff to help you stay fit and fabulous! You can still eat your favorite stuff, just do it in, you guessed it, moderation! Moderation Nation provides tons of tools to make it easier for busy peeps to stay fit like seven-day meal planners, healthy snack ideas, and even a meal balancing calculate that takes the guess work out of what to fix with foods you already have on hand.
My Thoughts:
I love the concept of this website! It's neat and clean, very easy to navigate. I was so excited to use the meal balance tool . I selected my meat that I had on hand (chicken) then selected the way I wanted to cook it (baked) and filled in a few more options before hitting submit. It showed my results but no recipes. Maybe it was just my computer or I was doing something wrong but I tried several times. I really love the moderation menus, just wish they were on the site and not in a PDF file. I like how lowfat hershey's desserts are listed on the site. Who doesn't love a good, low-fat chocolate dessert? Sign me up!
As a prize for one of my beautiful readers Moderation Nation is giving away this wonderful Moderation Nation Prize Pack! Which includes:
- A moderation nation t-shirt (I use it to work out in)
- A moderation journal to record your food intake or tips. (I use it as a to-do list)
- A full-size bag of Hershey's kisses (I know these are only to reward yourself for doing good, but I nailed this whole bag in a 2 days. *sigh*)

Prize pack, information and giveaway provided by Hershey'st hrough MyBlogSpark.
I would say the best tip is take aa slow! Choose one thing healthy you would like to start including in your eating habit, and remove one item that is not so healthy for you, take away something bad and add something good every month! See how far you get!!
ReplyDeleteTry to eat as much fresh foods as you can and avoid as much processed foods - cooking your own meals, doingit froms scratch. Switch to whole grains.Nix the soda - that alone can cut back on a lot of health problems. Lots of water , if thats not something you can stomach..switch to tea - plenty of antioxidents. Move it Move it! Get active even if it's taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Most importantly..balance your food and everything in moderation. Cake an cookies aren't bad.. it's just the amount you consume and if that is the only thing you are consuming.
ReplyDeleteWhat's always helped me is a journal.
ReplyDeleteI use one of those daily calendars and just write everything down. I also draw in a column for water, coffee, etc.
I'm a procrastinator and tend to get overwhelmed quickly. So I only 'review' it once a week for about a month to see my food trends and then seriously figure out what to cut back on or completely out and what needs to be integrated back in.
I also set goals, like 'Will eat a yogurt instead of a pudding' or 'Will trade refried beans for 1/2 plate of veggies'.
Subscribed to Yes,Divas Can Cook by email -- My best tip for eating and enjoying in moderation is to only eat when you're hungry and not mindlessly -- and measure portions :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!

My advice is to write down what you eat, so you can actually see how well, or how bad you eating. Another tip, is to experiment with different recipes. You'd be surprised how eating healthy can still taste really good. Lastly, portion control, portion control, portion control. Read the suggested serving size, and stick to it. It may be hard at first but you'll soon find that you will get used to eating smaller amounts.
ReplyDeletethe best advice i can give is when you go grocery shopping stay on the outer ailes of the store. This is where you will find the healthiest foods! Also don't limit yourself. Its okay to have a treat; just don't over do it. Smaller potions and drinking plenty of water also helps. Try switching to whole grains, and get more fresh vegetables in your diet. Also don't drink all your calories! try crystal light or lemon in your water! Whew... i guess i'll stop here! <3
ReplyDeleteMy advice is to Taste the Rainbow lol. Seriously we need to put colorful foods into our diet. Greens, berries, apples, carrots, beets, corn, etc. Incorporate these into your diet each day and watch how much better you will feel. There is room to indulge a little and be healthy at the same time. If you try to just cut out everthing at once, you will feel deprieved. So slowly add more color to your plate.
ReplyDeleteMy best advice would be to find a really good, confident, loving friend who is also looking to start eating healthier and work as a team. Build each other up. Plan your menues together, exercise together, go shopping together. Just have fun. And you know the saying: Time flies when you're having fun. You'll be eating and staying healthy in no time.
