Quick, Easy & Delicious Key Lime Pie

Quick, Easy & Delicious Key Lime Pie
( Geez I need to brush up on my garnishing skills)

Friday I decided to tackle Key Lime Pie! It was a last minute dessert that I wanted to take to a cookout. Normally when I need a new, guaranteed 5-star recipe I go straight to family & friends.

I contacted about ten different people and nobody had a good, tried and true recipe for Key Lime Pie, including a few born and breed Key West, Floridians. So off to the Internet I went. I wanted a recipe that was quick, easy, delicious and had an authentic taste without going through the whole "authentic" preparation. I narrowed it down to 3 recipes to test but after I made this one ladies I KNEW this one was the keeper!

I took it to the cookout and got rave reviews all around. This key lime pie is creamy, sweet, rich, with just the right amount of key lime kick. It's so refreshing which makes it the perfect dessert after a light summer dinner. In to my recipe collection it goes! Hope you enjoy this pie as much as I do. It comes courtesy of Marlene Goode! Thanks Marlene, this pie is the business!!!

Ingredients
1 prepared 9" graham cracker pie crust
2 cans (14 oz cans) of sweetened condensed milk
3/4 c. of key lime juice (about 25 key limes)
1/2 c. sour cream
1 T. key lime zest (optional)
Garnish (whipped cream, sliced key limes & zest)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Step 1.) Juice 25 key limes to equal 3/4 cup of juice & set aside.
I HIGHLY recommend using a juicer. If you don't have one they are about $5 at Walmart (handy lil device to have) Fresh key lime juice is wonderful!

Step 2.) In a bowl add 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk.

Step 3.) Add in the 3/4 cup of key lime juice. (If you are using lime zest add that in now as well)

Step 4) Add in 1/2 c. sour cream & stir until combined.

Step 5.) Pour mixture into 9" prepared graham cracker crust & spread until even.

Step 6.) Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set (tiny pinhole bubbles may burst on the surface of the pie). Do not brown the pie.

Remove from oven & chill completely before garnishing & serving. Garnish with slice key limes, whipped cream & key lime zest if desired.

Enjoy!

  3. Thanks so much for testing out recipes for us! I've always wanted to make this (love it while visiting family in Florida), but there are so many conflicting versions I've never attempted it.

    Sounds pretty simple too!

  6. I made this pie for my baby shower. I should have made three instead! Family members wear fighting over the pie! I had daughter against fathers, and cousins going at it! lol!! I couldn't find any key limes, but I read somewhere that 4 regular limes is like using 12 key limes...So I used 8 limes instead. It came out great!! I have a request for five pies for a birthday party.

  8. Monique,
Thanks for posting this recipe. Key Lime Pie is my husbands favorite pie. Today is his birthday so I decided to make this for him instead of having the traditional birthday cake. It was so easy and delicious and came out great!
