Grocery Shopping: Save Time & Money

One of my many New Years Resolutions is to :
Stop Over Spending & Manage My Time While Grocery Shopping!

This happens so easily when I go into the store without a grocery list or I start adding things on to the list that I know I don't need (But I mean is it my really my fault when Walmart tempts me with sale ads on my favorite mascara (Maybeline Full & Soft)?)

My goal is to get in and get out because I can easily spend 2 hours in that joint. It's crazy how fast time flies!

Well....tomorrow is grocery shopping day and I have created a system that I will be using to shop with.

Wanna here it? Here it go:

I've made a list of all the items I need to get for the next 7 days. (I planned out my menus & clipped a few coupons) then I arranged each item according to the store aisle.  So I simply go in, follow my little list, check out and LEAVE! No backtracking, forgetting items, adding items, putting back items. Simple right?  I will let you guys know how it works out.

There is a program out called Aisle-by-Aisle Shopping. This grocery shopping software lets you make  lists and organizes each product in the aisle it goes in. It also lets you keep track of what items you have coupons for and a bunch of other features. I haven't tried it out yet, I figured I can just do it on my own since I pretty much know which product is located where, but I may look into getting the software. I can see how it would be beneficial, especially for when I send my husband to the store. He is always calling me asking where things are located.

Here's a free downloadable grocery aisle list that I used to help me make my list. You can get it at Ultimate Grocery Aisle List

Ok Here is My Grocery List For Tomorrow:

Produce Aisle
  • 2 Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 White Onion
  • 1 bag of Red Potatoes
  • 1 bag of Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 jar of minced garlic (c)
  • 7 kiwis
Meat & Cheese Aisle
  • 2 bags of frozen Tilapia
  • 1 lb of ground turkey
  • 1 pack of chicken breast
  • 1 box of Sausage links
  • 4 lunchable Jr's
  • Honey Roasted BBQ Chicken Lunchmeat
  • 2 bags of cheddar cheese
Baby
  • Lil Crunchies
  • Splashers Water (c)
  • Cereal bars
Beauty
  • Dove Soap (c)
  • Protein Hair Gel

I must say, I'm feeling pretty darn confident that my goal to save money and time on grocery shopping this year will be a success. Just as long as that god forsaken snack aisle don't pull me in. I will be strong!

I Wanna Know: Do you make grocery lists ? What grocery store do you shop at the most?

  3. I just started doing the same thing in December. It's helpful, but it still seems like I spend sooo much money. I'll have four bags and have spent $90.

I didn't go grocery shopping today. It was so freakin cold ouside I just stayed in. I will face the weather in the morning.

I just recently started shopping at Target instead of Walmart. I love it. They have such a bigger variety and they are always well stocked and clean.

  7. I like to shop @ Walmart ONLY in the early AM...That way there's few people and I can easily get in and out. Also, I make it a habit to make grocery lists now...not only does it help me avoid overbuying but it helps me get in and out in less time than if I was just buying food off the top of my head! Love your blog!!
